Ipswich Hospice Telecommunications and Data Systems Replacement

Case Study

The telephone system at Hospice was damaged beyond repair during an electrical storm. IT systems needed attention and Hospice needed a provider that would work with their diverse requirements and the many volunteers.

Ipswich Hospice upgrade their telecommunications and data systems with Managed Solutions

Restraints

Budget is always an issue for a not-for-profit organisation and Ipswich Hospice is no different. Managed Solutions worked within budget restraints to provide a fixed price service for all the work at Hospice.

Solution

The telephone system was replaced with a new NEC SV8100 and configured to provide the various sections with the levels of service that they required.

Replacement of the system was performed to cause minimum disruption to service for Hospice and the process was achieved in a very short time ensuring Hospice was not off-line. A loan system was installed within hours of the original system failing and while insurance assessment and replacement was arranged.

As part of the replacement, Managed Solutions undertook to update site records and upgrade cabling infrastructure to meet industry standards.

Training and User Guides were provided and the system was programmed to make it easy for staff and volunteers to use.

Ipswich Hospice has now moved all their IT support requirements across to Managed Solutions and appreciates having their systems fully monitored and maintained for a fixed monthly price – an essential when working in a tight fiscal environment.

Managed Solutions' ProSupport means that remote helpdesk, monitoring and updating keep Hospice computers and servers available and working well.

Ros Holloway, Director of Hospice Services stated "Ipswich Hospice Care is a community owned and run organisation caring for those with a terminal illness and offers Bereavement support to people in the Ipswich and surrounding districts. Ipswich Hospice, although small, is complex and multifaceted. Forty staff and over 300 volunteers provide services and enterprises in over seven different locations. This includes the Guest Wing, Administration, Hilda's House, three second hand bookshops, a craft shop and an Opportunity Shop."

Our IT & telecommunications requirements are as complex and diverse as our organisation. Ipswich Hospice was looking for a local company to provide support with both our computer and telephone systems.

Managed Solutions provided exceptional service in times of crisis. With a couple of hours of being hit with a lightning strike, we had technicians on site assisting with having lost several computers, fax machines and our entire phone system. This prompt service, in addition to being able to deal promptly and face to face with staff from Managed Solutions encouraged us to seek a quote for IT support as well as phone system support.

Kevin Harm has offered Ipswich Hospice Care an extremely well priced contract to provide a standard of service we were not previously receiving. As a charity, with limited government funding, we are extremely grateful to Managed Solutions for the support and service they are providing".
