ColourChiefs is a professional prepress and printing company, which specializes in total colour management.
A major issue in the printing industry is the transfer of large files associated with images and prepress data, between the graphic artists, the client and the printing floor.
Solution
To facilitate ease of access and the highest speed service practical, Colourchiefs engaged Managed Solutions Internet (MSI) to design and implement dedicated virtual links via their own VPN (Virtual Private Network) to all major clients and printers. This enabled a secure and efficient method by means of which large files are transmitted and shared between client designers and print studios and ColourChiefs.
MSI designed and implemented this service over five years ago and has continued to work with Colourchiefs to ensure the reliability, security and efficiency of the system as the business has grown and their needs changed.
The base network design involved the establishment of a number of connections over various methods – including wireless links to the major sites. These links offered over 5 times the speed possible over other media. This enabled the VPN to effectively provide for the bandwidth requirements.
The net2Net management system implemented by MSI has performed all gateway and firewall services for Colourchiefs. MSI has also continued providing proprietary support and monitoring services, in addition to other services required by the ColourChiefs.
The site at Windsor had proved difficult to service at this level, without expensive infrastructure costs, so the wireless solution from MSI proved not only reliable, but cost effective, for the main network connection.
